Wayne Custer, 20, died shortly after he was brought to Shellbrook Hospital with serious injuries.
Wesley Custer, 20, died in August 2020 shortly after he arrived badly hurt at Shellbrook Hospital. PoliceRCMP announced in a media release Thursday that they’d made three arrests in connection to the case.
The first of the three suspects, a 34-year-old man, was arrested on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation on May 19 over an assault reported May 6. A consultation with Crown prosecutors then led RCMP to arrest the suspect again May 21 at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre and charge him with manslaughter in Custer’s death.
Another man, 42, was arrested at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre on May 22, and charged with being an accessory after-the-fact to murder. Lastly, a 23-year-old man was arrested Wednesday at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre and charged with second-degree murder in Custer’s death. He made his first appearance Thursday in Prince Albert provincial court. The other two accused were scheduled to appear in court on June 6.
