Manchester City defeated Brighton 2-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland.
Manchester City brought their rotten run of results to an end on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Brighton, but it was by no means easy.
Pep Guardiola's side looked comfortable at the break but Brighton came out fighting to make it a difficult second half. The Seagulls created several good chances and finally found a way back into the game when Ansu Fati pulled one back. A late red card for Manuel Akanji galvanised them further but the Blues managed to hold on for an important win.
Ahead of the match, Guardiola was confident Rodri would 'learn' from his moment of madness that saw him dismissed at Nottingham Forest but the evidence wasn't too promising at the Etihad. Rodri was shown a yellow for kicking the ball away after he lofted it into the net after the whistle had gone, a decision he then continued to argue with the referee over for a worryingly long time.
