See every look from Raquel Allegra's resort 2021 show:
Raquel Allegra could not host a show or presentation this season due to the coronavirus pandemic. In these extenuating circumstances, Vogue Runway has made an exception to its policy and is writing about this collection via photos and remote interviews.
In the early days of the pandemic, designers were faced with a host of logistical issues: canceled orders, halted production, shuttered stores, furloughed staff. Those were significant hurdles, but a designer might have an even harder time grappling with the reality that there’s simply no longer a demand for their clothes. In this era of #WFH comfort, women aren’t looking for sharp pantsuits, tailored dresses, or stilettos.
Raquel Allegra had nothing to change. Comfort has been an essential part of her label from the very beginning; the cloud-like softness of her materials is just as well-known as her inventive tie-dyeing. For the athleisure-averse, her slouchy pants, drawstring jumpsuits, and graphic tees are perfect for Zoom meetings and grocery store runs; in fact, customers have told her they’ve been wearing exclusively RA during quarantine.
