A violent rapist who brutalised a woman and girl during a series of sex attacks has been jailed for 14 years. Nathan Gillet's campaign of abuse took place on the Isle of Bute, Argyll and Bute, over a 17-year period. The 50-year-old denied the charges, but was found guilty of 13 offences including rape, sexual assault, and physically assaulting a boy.
The court heard Gillet, from Rothesay, continues to deny responsibility and has been assessed as posing a high risk of reoffending. 'The lasting effect of your conduct on them may be incalculable' Lord Armstrong said the victim impact statements showed the 'devastating and ongoing, long-term negative consequences' of Gillet's actions on their daily lives.
