Rangers could raise the funds for a permanent Abdallah Sima swoop by qualifying for the Champions League,The Senegal international scored on his second game back from a long-term injury layoff against Celtic on Sunday to help the Gers draw 3-3 at Ibrox.However, the Gers fear Sima’s parent club Brighton could price them out of a swoop for his services in the off-season.
Sources say the Premier League outfit value him at between £10-15million – which could eclipse Rangers’ current club-recordRangers are set to boost their transfer budget by around £20million if they qualify for Champions League football next season.The Ibrox club can qualify directly for the league phase of next season’s competition by winning the Scottish Premiership – but will otherwise have to navigate the qualifying rounds.
Sima, who can play on both flanks and lead the line, has notched 16 goals and two assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this term. He was sidelined with a hamstring injury in January but has made substitute appearances in the last two Scottish Premiership games.He is yet to make an appearance for the south coast club.
Rangers sit second in the Scottish top-flight but are just one point behind Celtic with a game in hand on their rivals.
