Native New Yorker RandyRainbow decided to pay tribute to Governor Andrew Cuomo with a new parody video.
While New Yorkers are hunkering down to make it through the coronavirus pandemic, many have begun to turn to a once-divisive political figure to ease their nerves:
. Through his level-headed daily briefings where he updates New Yorkers on the evolving situation, the governor has created a sense of calm among a panicked public.. Set to the tune of"Sandy," the clip follows a quarantined Rainbow as he falls head-over-heels for Cuomo."But you bring hope when I can't cope/ I guess I'm saying aye-aye-aye oh I/ Love you so, oh Andy," he croons at his television set.
It isn't long before Rainbow transforms into his full Danny Zuko look, giving his own rendition of the song's spoken breakdown, directly addressing Cuomo and drawing a thinly-veiled comparison to the President's handling of the pandemic."You're wise, levelheaded, eloquent and sexy at a time when the country needs it most," he says."It sure is a refreshing change from that motherf— aw, gee, I won't get into specifics. You know I don't like to be political.
As the song reaches its final chorus, Rainbow lets the governor know just how enamored he is with his continued efforts to fight the virus."Oh, Andy, baby, you're so strong and rational," he sings."From now on I identify as Cuomosexual."
