Muslim scholars and worshippers will be out looking for the moon this coming weekend
The start of Ramadan 2024 could be on two different dates, depending on where you are and which announcements you follow. The beginning of this holy month is decided by a confirmed sighting of the first slim crescent of the new moon.
With the moon unlikely to be visible on Sunday, March 10, it seems like the month of Shaban will continue into a 30th day and Ramadan 2024 will begin on March 12. However, Saudi Arabia's national astronomical calendar has already marked the first day of Ramadan as March 11.If Saudi officials stick to their forecast, this would mean a different start date for Ramadan in Saudi Arabia and anywhere else in the world that follows its announcements.
In the UK, people will try to see the new moon on Monday, March 11, which is one day after Saudi Arabia tries. The moon should be easy to see for most people in the world on March 11.
