He was caught drinking alcohol in hospital grounds.
A drunken man racially abused hospital security staff after he was asked to leave the grounds, a magistrates court heard. Ryan Done was seen drinking alcohol at a hospital and asked to leave by security staff, before he became aggressive and racially abused them.
The incident happened in the afternoon of July 6 last year at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. In a police interview after his arrest Done claimed he was not racist, saying he was 'drunk, an idiot but not a racist'.Prosecuting, Rachel Mason, said: "The police received reports that this man had been racially abusive towards security staff. Upon arrival the body worn cameras showed the security staff attempting to detain the defendant.
"He became verbally abusive and hit out towards one officer. He said, 'This country belongs to white people, it is not meant for black people'. It is clear he was under the influence of alcohol. "Due to the aggression displayed by the defendant, the security staff detained him on the floor. On route to custody he continued to be aggressive to police and had to be transported in a van cell."
