Rachel Zegler responds to Shazam! Fury of the Gods' latest postponement. In 2019, David F. Sandberg's first Shazam! movie came out, chronicling the story of troubled orphan Billy Batson as he acquires the ability to transform into an adult superhero . The film was a decent success, grossing $366 million at the box office and winning praise for its light-hearted tone and sense of fun.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Anticipation for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has been quite high, but fans have been left confused with the repetitive rescheduling of the film. First, the movie was delayed thrice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but since it was ready before the other films on DCEU's slate, it was eventually moved up from June 2023 to Christmas 2022. Many were excited to catch the movie in cinemas around the holidays. But after the Warner Bros.
As her message clearly shows, Zegler is taking the Shazam! 2 delay in good spirits. While the star seems to understand that people are getting annoyed with the persistent scheduling shakeups, she is trying to highlight the brighter side, echoing Sandberg's sentiments over the Shazam! 2 pushback. The sequel's cast and crew clearly want their work to be seen soon, but for both, the optimal viewing experience is a priority, something direct competition with Avatar 2 would impact.
Between Sandberg confirming that work on Shazam! 2 is almost finished and there being seven months to go until the movie's premiere, there is a lot to be excited about. Since Black Adam bows in cinemas in October, the entire marketing focus from then on would shift to Fury of the Gods, which will help the movie generate more interest from those who are unfamiliar with the franchise.
