And all too often, helping poor people doesn’t rise to the top of the problems officials decide to solve. But it’s wrong. Plain and simple.

The rabbis say their Jewish faith considers housing a fundamental human right. A lot of Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus and those of the Baha’i faith would strongly agree. Even people of no faith understand that decent affordable housing is a basic human necessity in any society, particularly in the United States of America, one of the richest nations on earth.
