Quentin Tarantino's final movie, The Movie Critic, isn't really bad news for a Rambo reboot, which can still exist without the Pulp Fiction director.
Although Quentin Tarantino's tenth and final movie, The Movie Critic, confirms that the director's plans for a Rambo movie are dead, the project can live on in a different form. The Rambo franchise has concluded with 2019's Rambo: Last Blood, but the idea of a new movie or show based on the main character from David Morrell's novel First Blood still floats around in Hollywood.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT It has been known for a while that acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino will retire from directing with his tenth feature film, and in March 2023, Tarantino officially announced The Movie Critic, a possibly semi-biographical movie set in the 1970s. While little information is known about the movie, Tarantino confirmed that it will not be based on any particular real-life figure.
Quentin Tarantino’s The Movie Critic Officially Replaces His Rambo Idea Quentin Tarantino had previously disclosed his rough idea for a Rambo reboot, saying "I would do the novel. And Kurt Russell would play the sheriff, and [Adam Driver] would play Rambo" . In the same interview with MovieWeb, Tarantino also expressed his dislike for 1982's First Blood and said that Sylvester Stallone misunderstood the character of Rambo.
The Rambo franchise still has many options for a comeback. For instance, Sylvester Stallone told Screen Rant his idea for a Rambo prequel based on the character's teenage years, saying "He was the captain of the team; he was the most popular kid in school; super athlete. He was like Jim Thorpe, and the war is what changed him. If you saw him before, he was like the perfect guy.
