The posters were placed at a number of public bus stops in recent days
The PSNI is investigating a series of posters which purport to be from the Ulster Volunteer Force which have appeared in a number of places in Belfast in recent days.
It had been reported in November that the former leadership of the East Belfast Ulster Volunteer Force, which for years had been associated with criminality and drug dealing in the area, had been stood down by the group's hierarchy. "Police are investigating and appealing for information following the report of posters being placed in the east Belfast area," a PSNI spokesperson said.
Alliance Party MLA for East Belfast Peter McReynolds condemned the posters and said it was time for all paramilitary activity to cease.
