'A beloved icon': Rock Hall statement does not say they will honor Dolly Parton's request to withdraw nomination
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame addressed the comments made earlier this week by Dolly Parton—country superstar, singer-songwriter and basically universally admired human being—who addressed her nomination for induction into the museum, asking to bow out after feeling like she hadn't earned the right.
On Monday, Parton posted on social media, announcing that she did not want to be included in the nomination as to not"split votes." "All of us in the music community have seen Dolly Parton’s thoughtful note expressing her feeling that she has not earned the right to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In addition to her incredible talent as an artist, her humility is another reason Dolly is a beloved icon by millions of fans around the world," the Rock Hall said."From its inception, Rock & Roll has had deep roots in Rhythm & Blues and Country music.
