A prosecutor urged a military jury to find one of their own, Air Force Gen. Phillip Stewart , guilty of sexual assault, saying he pursued a female officer on his staff and had sex with her without her consent. Stewart is accused of assaulting the woman at or near Altus AFB in Oklahoma during a business trip in April 2023. Stewart has long maintained the encounter was consensual. At the time, he led the 19th Air Force , the service's San Antonio -based pilot training command.

Naomi Dennis said that a month before the trip to Altus, Stewart tried to lure the woman to his hotel room in Denver during an Air Force conference in that city. Stewart texted the officer that he had an extra queen bed and added, “Crash if you need a room,' the prosecutor said.
Stewart pleads guilty to lesser charges, still faces rape accusation The jury of eight three-star generals — six men and two women — was expected to begin deliberating after the defense made final arguments on Friday. Stewart chose not to testify. The judge presiding over the court-martial at Fort Sam Houston, Col. Matthew Stoffel, handed the jurors a series of instructions to follow as they weigh the evidence against the general.
