The Giants can't please everyone
. “Detroit Lions, they didn’t want me. Dallas Cowboys didn’t want me. Giants didn’t want me. . Who else ain’t want me? San Fran ain’t want me.”for two years, $26 million. Being denied by the teams he had on his list just gave him extra motivation.
“I’m very grateful for where I am, I think I made the best decision,” he says. “But when you’re a player and some people feel like they’re great without you, and then you see what they have on paper, or you see what they do, you mark those games down, as a competitor. I can’t wait to play’ em and, honestly, try my best to crush they ass.”
The past two seasons, Hopkins was limited to nine and 10 games — with 717 and 572 yards and three and eight touchdowns. From 2017-20 with the Texans and Cardinals, he was a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro selection, averaging 1,380 yards. And even though Hopkins was limited to nine games in 2022, he averaged 79.7 yards per game, which ranked 10th in the NFL. He’s still a very good player — when he’s available.
In 2021, Hopkins dealt with a hamstring injury and torn MCL. In 2022, he missed the first six games due to a performance-enhancing drugs suspension. Then he was inactive the final two weeks after suffering a knee injury.
