Dawn MacCormack started a relationship with the prisoner while she was working at HMP The Mount
The 'intimate' relationship between a 'corrupt' female prison officer and an inmate was exposed by 4,500 texts and calls made between the pair.
Police then discovered a staggering 4,500 texts and calls between May 15 and June 20, 2019. MacCormack, of Borehamwood, Herts, was charged in June 2020.After a nine-day trial at St Albans Crown Court in July this year, the 42-year-old was convicted of misconduct in public office. Last Friday , she was jailed for 26 months.
"The majority of prison staff carry out their duties to the highest standards, and I do not want this sentence to detract from that. However, the actions of the minority who engage in illicit behaviour and inappropriate relationships should not be ignored, and we will continue to investigate such cases.
