The move is designed to make parking easier for motorists, reduce machine failure, printing and paper use. Cllr Paul Rainbow, the council’s lead member for transport and economic development, said: “The new ticketless system provides a faster and more efficient transaction. “It also enables people to get to the shops sooner and with less hassle as it has a significant reduction in user wait time at machines.”The machines have a large, easy-use keypad to enter the vehicle registration number.
Installation of the new machines and changeover from the old system has been completed over recent weeks.
