Kate Middleton and Prince William met at the University of St Andrews in 2001 but reportedly strove to keep their blossoming relationship under wraps with some 'elaborate cover-ups'
Kate Middleton and Prince William kept their romance a secret at university with a number of “elaborate decoys”, a Royal expert claimed.
But, with the close media scrutiny that comes with being a future King, the pair had to come up with a number of ploys to keep their blossoming relationship on the downlow for as long as possible. According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, William and Kate used some ‘elaborate cover-ups’ to keep their ‘conventional university romance’ under wraps.
She went on: “In a bid to keep their relationship below the radar for as long as possible, they would leave the house at different times and arrive at dinner parties separately, and made a pact never to hold hands in public.” “We were both very young,” William later explained during his engagement interview with Kate. “We were both finding ourselves and such and being different characters and such.”
