It comes as some critics and royal commentators questioned why it had taken Harry so long to clarify that he didn't believe the family was racist
In the aftermath of the interview, some experts maintained the alleged comments were “as racist as it gets” and said the Duke of Sussex should not have minimised the remarks.
Dr Lasana Harris, professor of Social Neuroscience in Experimental Psychology at University College London, who does not support the use of the term unconscious bias, told: “Racism plays out in the small and large things people do and get away with because these occurrences reinforce the learning and perpetuate the racism.”
Professor of Social Policy and Race at King’s College London, Dr Nicola Rollock, said she does not tend to use the term unconscious bias “due to a concern that it can be seen to imply a lack of ownership and accountability between the person and their views or behaviours”. However, some royal commentators said the Duke of Sussex should have made his opinion known earlier. His brother, Prince William, was forced to defend the royals as “very much not a racist family” in the aftermath of the interview.
