Former Burlingame star Ava Uhrich scores 22 points to lead Pinewood over Salesian. Freshman sensation McKenna Woliczko propels Mitty past St. Ignatius in WCAL opener.
The high school basketball season started more than a month ago. For the Pinewood girls, it must have felt like it began over the weekend.
All the 5-foot-11 senior did was score 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, grab eight rebounds and hand out three assists to help lead Pinewood to an eye-opening 67-62 victory. Nyana Asiasi finished with 14 points and Makiah Asidanya and Sofia Fidelus each had 11 points for Salesian, last season’s Division I state champion.
