A Premier League footballer who was arrested on suspicion of raping two women is now being investigated in connection with a third sexual offence
.
The player, who has not been named, was first arrested in Barnet, north London, on 4 July last year over a rape allegation made in June by a woman in her 20s. While in custody, he was further arrested in relation to the alleged rape of a second woman in April and June 2021. In July last year, the Metropolitan Police said it would take no further action in relation to the alleged incident in June 2021, because the relevant law had not come into effect at the time.
But on Thursday police said that the man had been interviewed last month under caution regarding a sexual offence alleged to have been committed in Barnet in February 2022.The 29-year-old denies the allegations, police said, adding that his bail has been extended.
