Zach Braff would return for a Scrubs reboot as long as Bill Lawrence is involved. “That’s a good question for him. It all comes down to him. I think if he can figure it out, every single one of us would say yes.”
Zach Braff opens up about whether he would ever join a potential Scrubs reboot. The sitcom and medical drama aired across NBC and later ABC for 9 seasons from 2001 to 2010. In Scrubs, Braff portrayed John Michael "J.D" Dorian, the show's protagonist who starts the series as a young intern at the Sacred Heart Teaching Hospital, with the series chronicling his journey from intern to practicing physician, as well as his experiences with his coworkers and closest friends.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY As reported by TV Insider, Braff took part in a Q and A session alongside Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence ahead of the launch of the release of the latter's new Apple+ television series, Shrinking, where he was asked whether he would be willing to reprise the role of J.D in a potential Scrubs reboot.
“That’s a good question for him. It all comes down to him. I think if he can figure it out, every single one of us would say yes. We do this podcast, Donald and I, and we have so much fun doing that, but it [would] be a hundred percent in [Bill Lawrence’s] hands, if he said yes and figured it out, we’d all be there.
Beyond fulfilling Braff's dream storyline, a Scrubs reboot could also offer viewers the chance to see most of the original cast reunite after many of the show's original stars left their series regular roles following season 8, save for Faison and John C. McGinley. Scrubs season 9 featured a new cast and setting, as the series followed medical students studying at Winston University under Christopher Turk and McGinley's Dr. Cox, who were now professors.
Scrubs left a lasting impression on audiences through its unique comedic structure and cutaway gags, alongside heartfelt and emotional storylines that tackled difficult subjects. As such, many involved in the series and viewers who grew up watching J.D and his friends' daily lives at the Sacred Heart Hospital have entertained the idea of a potential Scrubs reboot, including Lawrence himself.
