UPDATE: Boulder police have lifted a 'shelter-in-place' alert but asked that residents of the city avoid the area between 30th Street and Iris Avenue.
The residents of a north Boulder neighborhood were ordered to stay in their homes for more than two hours Tuesday after a man in a stolen car who police say has claimed to have a gun climbed to the roof of a building.
“We’re working to get him down without anyone getting hurt,” Boulder Police Department officials said Tuesday morning at 8:25 a.m. in a posting on Twitter. The police issued a “shelter-in-place” alert, then lifted it around 10:46 a.m. but asked that residents of the city avoid the area between 30th Street and Iris Avenue.— Boulder Police Dept. Please avoid the area of 30 and Iris where we’ve issued a shelter in place alert.
