Tourists and sea lion activists are reacting to the newly decided indefinite closure of Boomer Beach to Point La Jolla to protect the wild animals that often come ashore.
has voted unanimously to shut down access to Point La Jolla and Boomer Beach after complaints from residents and activists with regard to sea lions.
The transition from seasonal to year-round closure is a first of its kind that is praised by sea lion activists while some tourists told the TV station they were not thrilled about the indefinite closures.unanimously approved the city’s plan to seal off the rocky area between La Jolla Cove beach and Boomer Beach from the public year-round to keep people and sea lions apart, La Jolla Light reports.
