and recalled his past calls for greater acceptance of gay people, underscoring a prominent theme of his pontificate. “People with homosexual tendencies are children of God. God loves them. God is walking with them,” the pope told reporters accompanying him on his flight to Rome from South Sudan on Sunday. “To condemn someone like this is a sin. To criminalize someone for homosexual tendencies is an injustice.”
