The foreign secretary is expected to warn Washington that support is 'vital for American and European security'
Good morning and welcome to i's live blog. David Cameron has held talks with Donald Trump in Florida ahead of a visit to Washington in which he will push for more aid for Ukraine. The Foreign Secretary met with the presumptive Republican presidential candidate on Monday and discussed the war in Ukraine, Nato and the Middle East, according to The Telegraph. It is believed to be the first summit between a senior UK minister and the former president since he left office in 2021.
The Foreign Office said: 'It is standard practice for ministers to meet with opposition candidates as part of their routine international engagement.' Lord Cameron is expected to urge Congress to approve a $60bn aid package for Ukraine which has stalled amid opposition from allies of Mr Trump.
