Downing Street says Rishi Sunak retains confidence in Suella Braverman in the wake of her controversial newspaper article; Dame Priti Patel faces questions at the COVID inquiry.
Away from the COVID inquiry, Sadiq Khan has said he was 'astonished' to read Home Secretary Suella Braverman's comments in the Times today, in which she made a number of accusations of bias towards the Met Police. He added he was 'further astonished that the prime minister allowed her to write that'.
'He's either too weak to sack her, or he agrees with her views,' Mr Khan says.'She's incorrect in much of what she says in the article, but she's in danger of inflaming the situation, stoking divisions and dividing communities.'Mr Khan says if she is unhappy with the police, she should make those comments 'privately'.
