Leader of Liverpool Council and Metro Mayor pay tribute to Everton chairman who died age 78
Everton chairman Mr Kenwright died on Monday evening surrounded by his family and friends after a period of ill health. He was 78 years old.
Cllr Liam Robinson, leader of Liverpool Council, said: “Bill Kenwright was not just a fan and chairman of Everton he played a pivotal role in how the club supported Liverpool fans throughout the fight for truth and justice. He showed how football can be a force for good and realise we are better united.”
In a statement confirming Mr Kenwright’s death, Everton Football Club said he died “peacefully” surrounded by family and loved ones. “The club has lost a chairman, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Everton are with his partner Jenny Seagrove, his daughter Lucy Kenwright, grandchildren and everybody who knew and loved him.”
