“This was a serious incident that could have had terrible consequences for everyone involved'

A man has been charged after a fire broke out at a property in Ruddington. Emergency services were called to Dunblane Road at around 9.35pm on Thursday, October 12, after concerns were raised for a man's safety.

Upon arrival, they saw flames coming from a first floor flat, and officers evacuated a number of residents from the property as the fire service worked to put out the blaze. Nobody was injured and a suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into custody by Nottinghamshire Police. Stephen Pritchard, of Dunblane Road, Ruddington, has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. The 32 year old appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, October 14 and was remanded in custody.

Pritchard is next due to appear on November 6, 2023, at Nottingham Crown Court. Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a serious incident that could have had terrible consequences for everyone involved. “I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect in this case and am thankful that nobody was injured.”
