Police cordoned off an area in The Meadows after reports of a disturbance. Tape evidencing a crime scene was in place for a number of hours on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6, at The Bridgeway Centre.
One resident, spoken to by Nottinghamshire Live, said: "Apparently the incident happened between 6 and 7.30pm on Sunday. Police, even though it was reported, didn't come until the next day. Two coppers were guarding the Co-op for six hours before they cordoned it off."They searched the floor and checked CCTV then went away several hours later. Police came back this morning to search bins which I think had been emptied by the council.
People had heard about it, though. A woman walking by explained that she had heard about the incident through word of mouth. Another, who lives in the flats above the shopping centre, said she had heard nothing. But she explained that she has lived in The Meadows "all her life" and that police cordons have been rare.
