ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A suspect has been taken into custody following a prolonged investigation at a west Spenard residence on Friday afternoon and evening.
The Anchorage Police Department wrote in an emergency alert at 8:50 p.m. that the SWAT team would leave the area, but police would remain to process the residence. The update came approximately five hours after police alerted the public to be aware of a large police presence on West 29th Place near the intersection of Arctic and Benson boulevards.
In a second emergency alert at 4:30 p.m., police wrote both the SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team were on-hand. Police also wrote the investigation could involve the use of gas and “a variety of tools, the drone, and tactics to apprehend” the suspect or suspects. Police said to avoid the area, if possible, and those with respiratory illnesses should stay inside.Most Read
