The Aurora Pride Parade on Sunday may be in jeopardy after Aurora police warned that organizers do not have enough officers to provide security at the event.

Because the parade is privately-run and not sponsored by the city, police officers working on a security detail at the event do so on their own time. Lewbel said such extra shifts are voluntary and the city cannot force people to work them.He said the department has also worked to help link-up organizers with other police agencies in the area which might be able to provide officers to provide security.
In a statement, Aurora Pride organizers on Tuesday said “we are concerned and disappointed, and we are investigating all options available to us.”
