Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident where an unidentified individual pretended to be a police officer and performed a traffic stop.
On Oct. 21 at 11 p.m., officials say a 17-year-old was stopped on US 22/322 in Middle Paxton Township by a white Ford Taurus flashing red and blue lights. The operator of the Ford Taurus was reported to be impersonating a police officer. Another report observed the same vehicle at the intersection of SR 147/225 in Halifax Township.
Police say anyone concerned they are being stopped by someone impersonating an officer should pull off into a well-lit area and call 911 to confirm the authenticity of the encounter. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at Lykens by calling 362-8700 or texting 418-8280.
