Police say Nicholas Nesdahl, 27, pretended to be a 15-year-old boy on an app called Omegle, which reportedly is designed to “connect strangers.”
He is accused of convincing a 13-year-old Peters Township girl to send him nude photos and videos, and then saved them secretly to his phone by screen recording.Perhaps most disturbing, police say, he asked the girl to sexually assault a child and send him videos of that act as well.
“This is extremely disturbing … and I’ve only had a couple of these cases,” Peters Township investigator Edward Walker reportedly said. “Homeland Security folks who do these investigations do a great job, and I don’t know how they do it. It’s extremely difficult. It’s taxing and it’s images you can’t unsee. He actually instructed the juvenile to act out on her six-year-old friend.”
According to reports the investigation into Nesdahl, who is a diesel mechanic, began in October when the Peters Township girl’s mother contacted them. Homeland Security agents searched his home in North Dakota and then found child pornography. Nesdahl is reportedly in a North Dakota jail and is expected to be brought back to Pittsburgh at some point to stand trial on the charges.
