Police cars, a riot van, and an unmarked car were seen to 'storm' the school
A convoy of police cars was seen 'zooming' through the streets of Higham Ferrers on Wednesday afternoon after Northamptonshire Police responded to reports of armed youths outside a school at leaving time.
Northants Police received a call at about 3.40pm alerting them to “youths with weapons” waiting outside The Ferrers School in Queensway. The caller claimed to be a parent of the student who was going to be attacked. One eyewitness outside the school said he saw two police cars, a riot van and an unmarked police car "zoom in towards the school [with] sirens going." He claimed to see officers "storm" the school looking "a bit dramatic."Following police guidelines, officers had been scrambled to the school on a Grade 1 response. This is an incident where there is a risk of danger to life, use or immediate threat of use of violence or serious injury to a person and/or to property.
However, when officers arrived at the school, they realised the incident "was not as first reported", according to a police spokesperson. They established that no “youths with weapons” had been seen outside the building at all. Instead, the incident was discovered to be a dispute between two students that had led to a confrontation between the two families. Police say the incident is being dealt with by the school.READ NEXT:
