The man told police he had gotten out of his vehicle when he saw people nearby shooting in his direction.
OAKLAND — A man shot twice early Saturday morning in West Oakland is expected to survive, police said.
At 1:28 a.m., police were dispatched to the 900 block of Wood Street — a residential West Oakland neighborhood — to investigate possible gunfire detected by ShotSpotter technology. The victim, a 22-year-old man, was found lying on the street with a pair of gunshot wounds to his left arm and abdomen. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition, authorities said.
The man told police he had gotten out of his vehicle when he saw people nearby shooting in his direction from about a block away on 10th and Wood streets. Police found numerous shell casings from different weapons at the scene. At least four parked vehicles in the vicinity had been struck by gunfire.
