Police have launched a fresh crackdown on youth disorder in Barrhead town centre after a fireraising incident on Friday night.
A group of youths, believed to be aged 12 to 15, set a wheelie bin ablaze outside the Barrhead Foundry at around 8pm.
The youngsters responsible for the incident fled the scene but police have been studying CCTV footage from the area in a bid to identify them. The bin fire is part of a spate of anti-social behaviour that has been taking place at the Foundry and the nearby Asda supermarket in recent months. This has included vandalism, stone-throwing and general nuisance behaviour, much of which is drink-related.
