A police chase suspect who pointed a "gun" at deputies was sentenced to four years in prison.During the chase, Jonathan Sullivan crashed into a parked car on North Rencher Street, ran from Curry County deputies and hid behind a house.
During the manhunt, a Curry County deputy was searching a garage. As they exited, Sullivan "took an aggressive stance and pointed a pistol" at the deputy.Sullivan was not hit. He ran again and this time, hid inside an abandoned vehicle.Sullivan was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer, resisting/evading a law enforcement officer and failure to report a vehicle accident.
The pistol Sullivan pointed at the deputy was later found and determined to be an unloaded airsoft pistol. The District Attorney’s Office commended the Curry County Sheriff’s Office as more than 15 deputies showed up at sentencing. Sullivan will have to serve at least three years and eight months before he will be eligible for parole.
