On Wednesday, August 24, police arrested four men under the Terrorism Act as part of Operation Arbacia, an ongoing investigation into the activities of the New IRA which involves a coordinated approach working alongside MI5.
"These arrests are a continued demonstration of our commitment to use all tools at our disposal to reduce the threat posed by violent dissident republicans. "A 62 year old man has been charged with Belonging or professing to belonging to a Proscribed Organisation, Directing a Terrorist Organisation and Preparation of Terrorist Acts.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark McEwan added that the priority of the PSNI is "keeping the community safe."
