olice are looking for a gunman who shot a pizza delivery driver in the head in North Philadelphia. The driver never got to deliver his food, he’s in the hospital, fighting for his life.
Police believe that the delivery driver may have been ambushed near North Broad and Indiana Streets. The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. on Monday. Then, after shots were fired, police say the driver traveled up Mayfield Street and crashed into the porch of a home.The food items he was delivering were still in the vehicle after the shooting, Small said.Instead, they found a 40-year-old man shot in the head.
“The address on the block, it is an actual address, and that’s going to be part of our investigation to see if this individual was set up or he was supposed to be delivering at this location,” Small said.“It ran up against the house again,” Miranda Clement said. “And when I looked outside, there was so much smoke. And all you could hear everybody said, ‘Is anybody in the house? The guy in the car, get him out because it’s about to blow.’ There was so much smoke.
The delivery driver was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. “We did find some cameras in the area, so hopefully those cameras recorded something that can help us with this critical shooting of a pizza delivery person,” Small said.
