A pair of Fairfield men were arrested by local police officers in connection with two separate armed robberies at the same local business in January, police announced in a social media post Sunday.
Police wrote that officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at a Gateway Plaza retail store at 9:20 p.m. Jan. 24. The suspect — who had threatened to shoot an employee while demanding money from the cashiers — had fled upon officers’ arrival, but they received a description of the men from witnesses.
What officers learned from witnesses was that the robber may have been the same man who previously robbed the same store on Jan. 2, citing “similarities in his voice, build and walking gait,” police wrote. The man also wore black and allegedly made the same threat both times. After reviewing digital surveillance of both robberies, officers determined that the man fled in the same direction and used the same getaway vehicle both times, per the post.
With the assistance of the Special Operation Team , a search warrant was executed on Feb. 7 at an associated residence. This reportedly prompted the suspect –Anthony Andrew Muzio, Jr., 28 — to turn himself in on the same day.
