When it comes to Pokemon, there are lots of regional variants out there. But there are also plenty of ⚡️ Gen 1 Pokémon ⚡️ that still don't have regional variants they really deserve.
Since Pokémon introduced the feature of regional forms, fans have seen Pokémon change for a myriad of reasons; because it looked cool, it fit the region's theme, or to catch them up with a world that has changed dramatically over the past two decades. Yet while many Pokémon from generation one have gotten a refresher with a regional form in the past three generations, a handful do not have one - and seemingly should.
Pokémon: Dragonair Keeps Its Form & Becomes Water Dragon One of the biggest questions in the Pokémon franchise is how Dragonair evolves into Dragonite. The evolutionary jump seems like such a stretch, so much so that the common theory is that Dragonair would initially evolve in Gyarados and Magikarp into Dragonite. That's not what happened, but that doesn't mean a solution cannot be made.
Pokémon: Galar Missed The Opportunity For A Fairy Type Kingler Since the eighth-generation region of Galar was based off the United Kingdom, the missed opportunity of truly making Kingler into a king is a big one. Even though Kingler received a Gigantimax form, a regional form that would have given him a more permanent buff would have benefited this original Pokémon more.
In regard to the type change, this makes Cloyster into a pure tank of defense. Cloyster losing its notoriously weak Ice-type gets rid of most of its fragility, and Water removes one of Steel's key weaknesses in Fire-types. This regional Cloyster would still be vulnerable to Electric, Fighting, and Ground, but its Water moves at least give it a chance against Ground types. Overall, this Pokémon would be a defensive monster while gaining more attack power with Water.
