A former greyhound race track could be demolished in plans for a new development.
A former greyhound racing track could be bulldozed as plans are in motion to transform the site into a mixed-use development.
Plans have been submitted to build a combination of homes and a hotel at the site of Shawfield Stadium in Rutherglen. The proposal states that the development would consist of"residential, hotel and commercial" properties and result in the"demolition" of the empty Shawfield.Originally a football stadium, Shawfield was the home of Clyde FC from 1898 to 1986.
Greyhound racing was introduced in 1932, and race teams the Scottish Monarchs and Glasgow Tigers were also based there.
