The population of people aged 65 plus is set to increase by 54 per cent by 2038 in North Northamptonshire
Plans have been submitted to North Northamptonshire Council to demolish an Oundle home for a new "retirement living" complex - exclusively for over 60s. The proposed development is for 43 accommodation units, comprising 42 apartments and one bungalow, for people of retirement age and above.
It will include a homeowners lounge, guest suite, reception area, mobility scooter storeroom with charging points and a communal garden outside. Three-quarters of the apartments will also have private balcony areas or patios. In North Northamptonshire, the population of people aged 65 plus increased by 30 per cent from 2011-2021 and the projections show the population of this cohort is set to increase by 54 per cent by 2038. North Northants Joint Core Strategy is supportive of the provision of specialist older persons housing to meet the demand of people of retirement age.
