A Piper PA-18 Super Cub crashed near Gustavus on Sunday afternoon, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

A pilot was seriously injured after a small plane crashed Sunday afternoon in Southeast Alaska, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The Piper PA-18 Super Cub crashed near Excursion Inlet, said Clint Johnson, chief of the NTSB’s Alaska office. Excursion Inlet is near Gustavus and about 40 miles northwest of Juneau. The pilot was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard Sunday night, Johnson said.
