The sit-in took place after after thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered in Manchester for the fourth weekend in a row
Piccadilly station was closed after of pro-Palestine demonstrators staged a sit-in protest. Pictures and video from the scene showed hundreds of protesters on the station's main concourse waving Palestinian flags and chanting.
But Manchester Evening News reporter Helena Vesty, who was at the scene, estimated around 400 demonstrators were inside the station. She said despite the closure announcement the station seemed to be operating as normal, with police at the main entrance diverting passengers to the side door.
