South Carolina felt the wrath of Hurricane Ian on Friday.
The storm caused significant damage across the Grand Strand, including in northern parts of the area, such as Cherry Grove Beach.
Chief Meteorologist Jamie Arnold visited the beach area on Saturday morning, surveying what was left after the hurricane.Among the most notable damage seen was part of the Cherry Grove Pier collapsing, as well as wind damage to buildings and signs in the area.Copyright 2022 WMBF via Gray Media Group, Inc. Ian lashes South Carolina as Florida's death toll climbsCHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The U.S. death toll from Hurricane Ian has risen to 17 as Florida authorities on Friday afternoon confirmed several drowning deaths and other fatalities. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said the deaths included a 22-year-old woman who was ejected from an ATV rollover on Friday because of a road washout in Manatee County and a 71-year-old man who died of head injuries when he fell off a roof while putting up rain shutters on Wednesday.
