Brandon Marsh got the party going with a long three-run home run to open up the scoring in the second inning. That frame would be Braves pitcher Charlie Morton’s last after he was hit in the elbow with a comebacker a few batters before Marsh’s homer. J.T. Realmuto belted a long fly ball from Colin McHugh into deep center field over the head of Michael Harris II. Harris made every effort to make the catch, but it was just out of his reach and took a funky hop off the wall, skidding away from him. With no backup in sight, Harris was forced to field the ball away from him, which gave Realmuto time to round the bases for an inside-the-park homer and give the Phils a 4-1 lead.
