If an impressive number of people have contacted the government about gender identity and sex education, those statistics should be public.
MLAs, ministers and the premier undoubtedly get complaints on countless issues, but choose to act on only some. Major changes to the education system announced two weeks before the start of school seem particularly questionable.
If the government has truly heard from an impressive number of people on the issue of gender identity and sexual education in schools, presumably releasing statistics to buttress that would help convince the public of its legitimacy.
