The 10 mile journey passes through open countryside and historic villages
We're heading to South Ribble for this week's suggested walk with a journey that passes through a number of villages. The route is mainly based around quiet country lanes, making it a nice break away from busier days and places during the week.
It also offers lovely scenery of the autumnal countryside as well as historic villages which you'll pass through on the way. Our walk, which is based on one drawn up by South Ribble Borough Council, starts and ends at the car park by New Longton Sports & Social Club on Chapel Lane in New Longton. You can stop here for a drink afterwards or if you're looking to have some food after the journey, we've added a diversion to the nearby Farmers Arms. The pub has a separate area for those stopping for a drink, while the large dining area serves up a variety of pub grub as well as having a carvery and pizza oven.
As always, ensure you wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the journey. Also note the journey covers a distance of 10 miles so it is sensible to carry water with you.
